Dear Friends, What a difference a year makes! The dream of Onward Eden Prairie is now reality. Thank you for making an investment that has resulted in lives positively changed forever. Your important gift has had a meaningful impact on teen and young adult homelessness in our community. We hope you will consider renewing your partnership with us. What we know: Together we identified the unmet need of homeless or precariously housed young people right here in our community. We agreed that every person should have the opportunity to have a safe place to sleep at night. Lives and stories are complicated and just a bed to sleep in will not solve the problem alone.
What we did: Generous and caring individuals like yourself came together, found a house and made it a home. In October 2018 we began housing young tenants who are committed to improving their life. We partnered with Oasis for Youth to provide a professional Case Manager to help residents set and work on life goals and skills that will help them move forward.
Result: Six young adults have had safe stable housing in the past year. 47 people have applied for a room at our house when we have had a vacancy. Residents are finding better employment, resulting in increased wages, higher satisfaction with their jobs, and advancement in their fields Two residents are continuing post high school education and maintaining Dean’s List recognition Residents are experiencing a caring community and are setting future goals. Lives are improved in real and meaningful ways!
Rarely do we have a front row seat to see this kind of caring from a community and vision turned into action. As a volunteer Board of Directors, we see this success as strength.
