New board leadership for 2026

As we begin a new year, Onward is grateful to welcome new leadership and fresh perspectives to our board of directors. This year brings both continuity and growth, as experienced leaders step into new roles and new members join us in advancing our mission.

2026 Leadership

Jim Nelson, a retired attorney and Edina resident, has begun a two-year term as board president. Jim previously served as vice president and brings thoughtful leadership and a strong commitment to Onward’s long-term sustainability.

Megan Sande now moves into the role of immediate past president and will continue to play an active role in guiding our organization. Megan’s leadership over the past year helped strengthen our systems and prepare us for future growth.

Darla Nemec and Mark Weber will continue serving as treasurer and secretary, respectively. Their steady leadership and attention to detail remain vital to our work.

From Committees to the Board

We are also pleased to welcome two long-time committee members into board roles:

Courtney Poja, Director of Advancement at Cornerstone Advocacy Service, brings deep nonprofit development experience and a strong commitment to community partnerships.

Nicholas Rogers, Chief Pharmacy Officer at Medica, offers valuable expertise in healthcare leadership and organizational strategy.

Both Courtney and Nick have already made meaningful contributions through committee service, and we are excited to see their impact expand at the board level.

Fresh Faces, New Perspectives

This year, we also welcome three new board members who bring diverse professional backgrounds and fresh energy to Onward’s work:

Pam Hursh, recently retired from Carelon Health, brings decades of experience in healthcare and organizational leadership.

Ben Fredericks-Manion, Business Development Manager at Bold Orange, contributes strong skills in relationship-building and strategic growth.

Tom Thai, Account Executive at Salesforce, adds expertise in technology, data, and client engagement.

Together, Pam, Ben, and Tom strengthen our board’s capacity to support Onward’s continued growth and innovation.

With Gratitude to Departing Board Members

We extend our sincere thanks to Deb Garvey and Dick Ward, who are completing two full terms of service on the board. Their dedication, wisdom, and steady leadership have helped shape Onward during an important period of growth. We are deeply grateful for the time and care they have given to this organization.

Looking Ahead

It is a privilege to work alongside such a committed and thoughtful group of leaders. Our 2026 board brings together experience, new ideas, and a shared belief in the potential of the young adults we serve.

I am excited for what we will accomplish together in the year ahead as we continue to strengthen our programs, expand our reach, and support each resident on their path toward stability and independence.
